Congratulations To Our Gramophone Winners

IMG Artists congratulates winners of the 2011 Gramohone Awards including Miloš Karadaglić, Antonio Pappano, Murray Perahia, Vasily Petrenko, Yan Pascal Tortelier, Gerald Finley and Julius Drake. The Awards were announced Thursday, October 6th at a ceremony at London's Dorchester Hotel.

Following chart domination for his debut disc for DG, The Guitar, Miloš Karadaglić won two Gramophone Awards: 'Young Artist of the Year' as well as 'Specialist Classical Chart', an award celebrating the most popular classical releases for consumers.

Recordings featuring Antonio Pappano won no less than three Gramophone Awards in 2011. For the 'Editor's Choice' award, Maestro Pappano won for his recording of Rossini's Stabat Mater. For 'DVD Performance', the Royal Opera House staging of Verdi's Don Carlo took the prize, conducted by Maestro Pappano. Lastly, leading the chorus and orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Maestro Pappano supports Jonas Kaufmann's disc Verismo Arias; winner in the 'Recital' category.

Murray Perahia won the' Instrumental' category with his Brahms and Handel Variations, Vasily Petrenko won the 'Orchestral' category leading the Royal Liverpool Philharmoic Orchestra on the Naxos disc of Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10 and Yan Pascal Tortelier's direction of the BBC Symphony on the Chandos recording of works by Debussy, Ravel and Massenet, with Jean-Efflam as soloist, won the 'Concerto' category.

Finally, Gerald Finley, accompanied by Julius Drake, took the 'Solo Vocal' award for his Britten's Songs and Proverbs of William Blake.
