In a rare, and perhaps even as yet unmatched, achievement, Paul Watkins will give the world premieres of two works by the same composer in consecutive weeks: the first behind his cello and for the second he will takethe baton and the conductor's podium.  On 21st February, Paul and his brother, the pianist and composer Huw Watkins, will give the first performance of Northern Irish composer Piers Hellawell's atria, in a recital at Belfast's Queen's University as part of the Belfast Music Society's International Festival of Chamber Music. Then one week later on 28th February, Paul makes his debut conducting the acclaimed Swedish Chamber Orchestra in a programme of Britten, Sibelius and Haydn, with the centre-piece being the premiere of Hellawell's Syzygy for brass quintet and string orchestra, featuring the players of the acclaimed Stockholm Chamber Brass.
