Classical and opera critics of the Evening Standard have rounded up their very best shows of the year, with Alice Coote appearing twice in Barry Millington’s top 10 list. Notably, Ms Coote and Julius Drake’s recital of Schubert Songs at Wigmore Hall appears on the list – the only recital to make the list.

In Ariodante at The Barbican, Alice Coote “held the house rapt in her aria of suicidal despair”, and in reviewing the Schubert Songs recital at the Wigmore, Barry Millington writes:
