Hot on the heels of a stunning return visit to La Orquesta y Coro Nacionales de España 14, 15, 16 May 2021, Alondra de la Parra makes a much anticipated debut with Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi on 26 and 27 May 2021 in one of the first concerts of their summer season. She will conduct the world premiere of Silvia Colasanti’s work for soprano and orchestra “Dove si disperde, infine spento, il canto della morte” which the orchestra has commissioned, with Valentina Varriale as soloist.
Highlights of this season have included Staatsorchester Stuttgart, Danish National Symphony, Hessischer Rundfunk Frankfurt, Luxembourg Philharmonic and Monte Carlo Philharmonic. Next season includes two new works: the Scandinavian premiere of Thomas Larcher’s piano concerto with Kirill Gerstein and Danish National Symphony and the world premiere of Christopher Wheeldon’s new full-length ballet “Like Water for Chocolate”, based on the Mexican novel of the same name by Laura Esquivel. This co-commission between The Royal Ballet, Covent Garden and American Ballet Theatre reunites Wheeldon with composer Joby Talbot, costume and set designer Bob Crowley and lighting designer Natasha Katz.
