The recording of Strauss’ Ein Heldenleben & Macbeth, performed by the Frankfurt Radio Symphony under the baton of the celebrated Columbian Maestro Andrés Orozco-Estrada, has received plaudits from critics since its November 2016 release.
In their review of the recording, Gramophone Magazine describes Orozco-Estrada as “a fine Straussian” who “negotiates his way through both of these scores with impressive command.”
The recording also made Music Web International’s Recording of the Year 2016. In his review of the recording, Mark Bridle writes of Orozco-Estrada’s interpretation of Ein Heldenleben as “little short of astonishing”, continuing, “it rarely seems to struggle under the weight of there being ‘too many’ notes.”
Bridle rounds up his review by writing, “A stunning Ein Heldenleben, and a no less brilliant Macbeth, all in state-of-the-art sound, make this one of the best Strauss discs I have heard in years.”
