On Thursday, 14 March, at Vienna’s Musikverein, he will lead the orchestra in a programme including Ustvolskaya’s Symphonie Poem No. 2, Kancheli’s Styx, and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5. The orchestra will be joined by violist Nils Mönkemeyer and the Wiener Singverein choir. On 23 March, he and the orchestra will give a concert at Moscow’s Zaryadye Concert Hall featuring Schubert’s Overture to Die Zauberharfe, Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5 and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with David Fray as soloist.
In April, Boreyko returns to San Francisco Symphony to conduct Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2 with Emanuel Ax, and Zemlinsky’s Die Seejungfrau, the latter of which he will perform again at the Blossom Festival this August with Cleveland Symphony Orchestra.
