Christoph Altstaedt returns to conduct Ulster Orchestra for a Good Friday concert on 15 April 2022. With mezzo soprano Jennifer Johnston as soloist alongside the Belfast Philharmonic Orchestra, the programme features Dvořák’s Biblical Songs, Schumann’s Nachtlied, and Brahms’ Begräbnisgesang, Nänie, Alto Rhapsody, and Schicksalslied. More information and tickets can be found here.
Next season, Christoph’s symphonic highlights include concerts with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (with soprano Anna Devin) and Opera North (with soprano Jennifer France). Christoph will also return to the Gürzenich Orchestra for several special projects at the Cologne Philharmonie. In recent seasons, Christoph has conducted the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (marking his Royal Albert Hall debut in their annual Messiah), the Academy of Ancient Music (with whom he embarked on a European tour with soprano Chen Reiss), and other orchestras such as Staatskapelle Weimar, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken, Philharmonia Orchestra, hr-Sinfonieorchester, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart des SWR, and Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
In the opera world, following the success of this season’s Brahms’ Ein Deutsche Requiem at Vienna Volksoper, next season Christoph will conduct performances at the Vienna Staatsoper and Cologne Opera.
