Christoph Altstaedt will conduct a new production of Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem for Vienna Volksoper, choreographed by Martin Schläpfer with whom Christoph has developed a strong partnership since they first worked together during his tenure as Kapellmeister at Deutsche Oper am Rhein. The run extends across the autumn and spring, with performances on 30 September, 5, 10 15, October, 16, 21, 27 December 2021, 9, 12 January, 31 March, and 6 April 2022.

Christoph’s other engagements this season include Tapiola Sinfonietta, Symphonieorchester Vorarlberg, Beethoven Orchester Bonn as part of the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb Competition, and a project with Ensemble Kontraste in Nürnberg, amongst others. Last year, Christoph made his debut conducting the Academy of Ancient Music and soprano Chen Reiss in a programme of Beethoven and Friedrich Witt which toured across Europe. More recently this summer, Christoph conducted the Gürzenich Orchester Köln in their Singen mit Klasse project (returning next year) and Essen Philharmoniker (Beethoven Prometheus Overture, Beethoven Symphony 4 and Dvorak 9). In the UK, Christoph Altstaedt remains a popular guest of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London, having conducted their annual Messiah at the Royal Albert Hall.
