IMG Artists is delighted to announce that Claus Peter Flor has been named Guest Conductor of the Het Gelders Orkest. Maestro Flor first performed with the orchestra in February 2017. Inspired by the instant chemistry between maestro and the musicians and the enthusiastic response of the audience, the Orchestra created this new position in order to “keep creating this magic in the future”. Beginning in the 2018/19 season, Maestro Flor will conduct the orchestra in programmes that include works by Haydn, Beethoven and Bruckner. The announcement is shared with the news that Het Gelders Orkest has extended its relationship with its current Chief Conductor, Antonello Manacorda, through the 2018/19 season.

Widely respected as a conductor of instinctive and incisive musicianship, Claus Peter Flor maintains a prestigious international career. Maestro Flor is renowned for his command and interpretation of the Austro-Germanic repertoire in particular, namely composers such as Bruckner, Mahler, Brahms, Strauss, Schumann, and Mendelssohn, as well as the works of Shostakovich, Dvorak, and Suk, having recorded many works by the two latter composers during his tenure as Chief Conductor of the Malaysian Philharmonic. Throughout his career, he has held positions with a number of distinguished orchestras, including the Philharmonia, Dallas Symphony, and Zurich Tonhalle orchestras. He was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi in 2003, at the personal invitation of their then Music Director Riccardo Chailly, and continues working with the orchestra on a very regular basis each season.
