Conductor Jonathan Brandani is praise for Medea in Corinto at Festival Donizetti Opera. The Francesco Micheli production of the tragic opera by Johann Simon Mayr runs through 4 December at Teatro Sociale in Bergamo, Italy.
Renato Vergo writes in L’opera oggi, “Jonathan Brandani’s conducting was the revelation of the evening: at the head of the Donizetti Opera Orchestra he was able to highlight the peculiarities of the score whose various moments are magnificently realized by his conducting, which was enthralling on the one hand and classically poised on the other. The symphonic subtleties he brilliantly highlighted were very well rendered by the Donizetti Opera Orchestra.”
