Dresden Philharmonic under their Principal Conductor, Michael Sanderling, undertake a 9-concert tour of the UK between May 17th – 27th 2018, including dates in London, Manchester and Edinburgh, on which they perform Beethoven Symphony No. 5 and Shostakovich Symphony No. 5. The orchestra is currently mid-way through recording complete cycles of both Shostakovich and Beethoven symphonies for Sony Classical, and the recording of Shostakovich 5/Beethoven 5 is released to coincide with this tour. The two soloists on the tour are Arabella Steinbacher and Jennifer Pike.
Now in his seventh season as Principal Conductor, Michael Sanderling’s 2018/19 engagements include his debuts with Berlin Philharmonic, Orchestre de Paris, Helsinki Philharmonic and Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, and he returns to SWR Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart, WDR Sinfonieorchester Cologne, Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra, Zurich Tonhalle, Konzerthaus Orchester Berlin, and Gewandhausorchester Leipzig.
