The Emerson String Quartet will celebrate the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth as part of the Chamber Music Society of Louisville’s year-long Beethoven Festival.

The eminent ensemble will perform all sixteen of the composer’s string quartets over six concerts from February – November 2020. The first three concerts will take place on February 8 and 9 and March 1. The remaining concerts will be performed during the 2020/21 season.

The Emerson started the Beethoven celebrations last season, performing the complete Beethoven quartets at the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival. The festival’s Artistic Director is cellist-conductor and Emerson member Paul Watkins. Next performances of the Beethoven cycle by the Emerson Quartet will take place at the Seoul International Music Festival in South Korea from May 30 – June 5, 2020.
