Francesco Lecce-Chong and the Eugene Symphony Association have extended the Music Director’s contract through at least the 2022/23 season. “Francesco will be one of our great ones,” said Search Committee chair Roger Saydack, referring to the orchestra’s past illustrious conductors that included Marin Alsop and Giancarlo Guerrero. Under Lecce-Chong’s leadership, the Eugene Symphony has continued to grow artistically and expand its audience. It has recently undertaken the “First Symphony Project,” co-commissioning four major American orchestral works to be performed over the next four years in partnership with the Santa Rosa Symphony where Lecce-Chong has served as Music Director since 2018.
