Francesco Lecce-Chong conducts the Santa Rosa Symphony on the new album of works by Ellen Taaffe Zwillich. The album features the world premiere recording of Ellen Taaffe Zwillich’s Cello Concerto with Zuill Bailey as soloist and other works by the Pulitzer Prize winning composer.. Zwillich was the Santa Rosa Symphony Artistic Partner in spring 2021, during which time the orchestra, led by Lecce-Chong, performed her music in virtual concerts; this recording is a result of those performances. The recording will be released in stores and online on Delos on September 16, and is available for pre-order now.

Lecce-Chong says: “This recording is a tribute to the incredible commitment and perseverance of the Santa Rosa Symphony to bringing music to our community during the darkest days of the Covid-19 pandemic. This is also a celebration of one of the most important composers of our time, Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, whose creativity, imagination, joy, and brilliance is showcased in every work.”

The orchestra and Lecce-Chong have also commissioned a new work by Zwillich, Concerto for Two Pianos, which will have its world premiere in May 6-8, 2023.
