Freddy Kempf, who is currently touring the UK with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, delivered a “flawless” and “moving” performance of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 at The Corn Exchange in Cambridge on the tour’s opening concert.
Mr Kempf is performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concertos No. 2 & 3 as part of an all-Russian programme across 12 key cities and concert halls around the UK, and the pianist “effortlessly communicates the full emotional range of his [Rachmaninoff’s] music, from the most powerful and expressive to the minutely subtle and lyrical”.
“Freddy Kempf’s delivery of this famous concerto was flawless, moving, and attentive to Rachmaninov’s sensitivity to texture and the all-important interplay of soloist and orchestra.”
Mr Kempf and the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, whose concerts so far have been sold out, will next be appearing on stage at a sold out Cadogan Hall on Thursday 17th May.
