Pianist-Composer Gabriela Montero has been named Artist in Residence with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra for the 2019/20 season. The announcement was made by the orchestra and its Music Director Kirill Karabits as part of the unveiling of their exhilarating season. Montero will present three programmes including her own Latin Concerto with conductor Carlos Miguel Prieto (16 October, Poole and 17 October, Portsmouth); Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24 in C minor (4 December, Poole and 5 December, Exeter); and finally joining the BSO Soloists for a Chamber Recital where Montero will perform her own works and thrilling improvisations as well as selections from Rachmaninov and Shostakovich (26 February, Poole).
Montero said: “I’m really looking forward to returning to pl ay with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and to audiences across the South West. To perform alongside my dear friend Carlos Miguel Prieto is always a treat, and I can’t wait to perform alongside Kirill Karabits and in recital with the BSO Soloists.”
