Manoj Kamps receives critical acclaim following their 7-date tour around The Netherlands conducting Mozart’s Così fan tutte with the period orchestra, Orchestra of the 18th Century. The operatic cast includes singers Katharine Dain, Josy Santos, Claron McFadden, Linard Vrielink, Drew Santini, and Henk Neven, directed by Lisenka Heijboer Castañón.
“Musically and vocally the performance was at the highest level. Kamps led with great authority and made the transitions between recitatives, ensembles and arias run smoothly and flawlessly. That gave the evening momentum and the orchestra, in which all wind players – from oboe to horn – excelled, followed Kamps alertly.” – Peter van der Lint, Trouw
“The Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century (…) is the pivot around which the world of increasingly crazy partner swapping revolves. The singers and orchestra are excellently guided by conductor Manoj Kamps, who — after all kinds of queer and gender-breaking projects in which they themselves were a pleasantly disruptive factor — now also gets to conduct a ‘regular’ piece, which they do superbly, especially with such an ensemble like this orchestra.” – Neil van der Linden, Theaterkrant
“The talented Manoj Kamps led the ensemble. Their conducting radiated a great sense of precision in the ensemble, a pursuit of beautiful lines and strong emphases on key emotional moments.” – Franz Straatman, Opera Magazine
The tour concludes tonight in Utrecht at TivoliVredenburg. More information and tickets are available here.
