IMG Artists is delighted to announce the signing of conductor Rory Macdonald for General Management with immediate effect.

A prolific conductor on both the opera and orchestral stages, highlights of Rory Macdonald’s current season include his debut with Frankfurt Opera conducting Così fan tutte , a major new production of Daniel Auber’s comic opera Fra Diavolo for Rome Opera directed by Giorgio Barberio Corsetti, return engagements with BBC Philharmonic (Delius, Beethoven, Sibelius), BBC Scottish (Dvorak tone poems), Royal Philharmonic, Ulster Orchestra and Royal Scottish National, with whom he records a disc of the music of Thomas Wilson for Linn Records.  He also makes debuts with Residentie Orchestra, Orchestra Filharmonica di Bologna and Prague Philharmonia.  Later this Spring he works with West Australian Symphony Orchestra, where he gives the world première performances of Carl Vine’s Double Piano Concerto, Nagoya Philharmonic and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.

Jennifer Spencer, who will manage Rory in association with IMG Artists, says: “Rory is equally accomplished when conducting opera or symphonic programmes.  I saw him conduct an impressive studio concert with BBC Philharmonic at the end of 2017, and saw him only a matter of weeks later conducting a beautifully paced Cosi fan Tutte in Frankfurt.  I am excited at the prospect of working together having been aware of Rory from when he was Ivan Fischer’s assistant many years ago.

Rory Macdonald said “I am honoured and excited to be working together with Jenny on the next stage of my musical adventures.  We clicked straight away and I find her integrity and passion hugely inspiring.”
