IMG Artists are delighted to announce that Tomáš Netopil has joined the conductor roster for General Management with immediate effect. Netopil will be managed from the company’s London office by Global Management Consultant Jennifer Spencer in association with Jennifer Spencer Artist Management.

Tomáš Netopil is currently General Music Director of the Aalto Theatre and Philharmonie Essen, a position he has held since 2013/14. In addition to his concert season at the helm of Essen Philharmoniker, his opera productions in 2018/19 include Der FreischützSalomeCosì fan tutte and Rusalka.

An inspirational force in Czech music, Tomáš Netopil is also one of the two Principal Guest Conductors of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra (the other being Jakub Hrůša) and he has recently conducted them in the televised opening concert of the Prague Spring Festival.

Tomáš Netopil ends this season with the final few performances of Der Freischütz for Vienna Staatsoper, in a new production by Christian Räth with Camilla Nylund as Agathe, as well as performances of Die Walküre and Salome in Essen. At the start of 18/19, Tomáš Netopil conducts Jenůfa for Netherlands Opera in a Katie Mitchell production with Annette Dasch, Hanna Schwarz and Evelyn Herlitzius.  2018/19 also sees him return to Vienna Staatsoper for Smetana’s The Bartered Bride and he returns to Vienna Staatsoper for Idomeneo.

On the orchestral platform, future engagements include Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and Tonhalle Orchester Zurich.
