IMG Artists is thrilled to welcome soprano Lianna Haroutounian to its roster for Worldwide General Management (exc. Spain and Portugal). Having recently earned rave reviews as Madama Butterfly at the San Francisco Opera, she will be represented by Global Vocal Director and Senior Vice President Matthew Horner out of the company’s New York office.
Lianna Haroutounian gained international recognition in 2013 when she replaced an ailing colleague as Elisabetta in Don Carlo at the Royal Opera House with an all-star cast conducted by Music Director Sir Antonio Pappano. Of that debut, The Guardian wrote: “Haroutounian seemed to pull forth ever-increasing vocal powers until you thought her heart, or yours, would burst.” Since then, she has appeared numerous times at the Royal Opera House, including in new productions of Verdi’s Vêpres Siciliennes led by Pappano and Il Trovatore conducted by Gianandrea Noseda. Recent highlights include Amelia in Simon Boccanegra at The Metropolitan Opera conducted by James Levine, Desdemona in Otello at the Teatro Real, and Don Carlo at the Opernhaus Zürich.
Haroutounian said: I am so excited to be a part of Matthew’s team at IMG Artists, and we both look forward to our exciting future collaboration!
Horner added: I am delighted to work with Lianna Haroutounian, whom I have heard in numerous performances of Verdi and Puccini. She is one of the major voices of our day.
Future engagements this season see Haroutounian return to the Royal Opera House in Il Trovatore, as well as her Staatsoper Hamburg and Seattle Opera debuts in the title role of Madama Butterfly.
