IMG Artists is delighted to welcome bass Andreas Bauer Kanabas to its roster for North American management. He will be represented by Senior Vice President and Artist Manager Sam Snook from the company’s New York headquarters. Mr Bauer Kanabas’ general management is Boris Orlob Management.
Praised for his, “warm, deep bass sonority and natural humanity“ (The Daily Mail), Bauer Kanabas has starred in such varied repertoire as King Philip II/Don Carlo (in both Italian and the original French), the title role in Bartok’s Bluebeard’s Castle, Méphisto/Faust, Vodnik/Rusalka, Gremin/Yevgény Onégin, Claggart/Billy Budd, Da Silva/Ernani, Fiesco/Simon Boccanegra, Zaccaria/Nabucco, King Mark/Tristan und Isolde, Landgraf Hermann/Tannhäuser, Commendatore/Don Giovanni, Osmin/Die Entführung aus dem Serail, and Escamillo/Carmen. Singing in eight languages, his large range, the the special timbre and the legato culture of his voluminous voice make him a basso cantante with great versatility.
He performs on international stages including the Vienna Staatsoper, Royal Opera House London, Opéra Bastille de Paris, The Bolshoi in Moscow, Teatro Real Madrid, Seattle Opera, Teatro Municipal Santiago de Chile, the New National Opera Tokyo, Opéra de Lyon, Riga National Opera, Semperoper Dresden, and the Berlin Staatsoper. In addition, he has been a member of the solo ensemble of the Frankfurt Opera since 2013.
Forthcoming highlights include Zaccaria/Nabucco at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, De Silva/Ernani in Antwerp and Ghent, and his Hamburg Staatsoper debut with Rocco/Fidelio in 2022.
Bauer Kanabas studied voice with Prof. Eugen Rabine in Weimar and later with Paolo Barbacini in Italy, Robert Lloyd in London and Robert Gonnella in Toulouse. His recent solo album, Love and Despair, with the Latvian Festival Orchestra and conductor Karsten Januschke, was released on Ohems Classics in autumn 2021.
