IMG Artists is delighted to welcome bass-baritone Christian Immler to its roster for worldwide general management. Mr Immler will be represented by Artist Manager Sofia Surgutschowa from the company’s Paris office.

Immler has earned acclaim for his “powerful and broad range”, “singular intensity” (Classiquenews) and “dramatic gravitas” (Operawire).

Ms Surgutschowa says: “The IMGA Paris office is thrilled that Christian Immler is joining its vocal roster. He is a distinguished and sensitive artist whose wide international career we are excited to continue to grow together.”

From his early days as a boy alto soloist at the Tölzer Knabenchor to singing at major concert halls, festivals and opera houses, Christian Immler is a versatile artist who is equally at home in the worlds of oratorio and opera. Following his studies with Rudolf Piernay at London’s Guildhall School of Music, he first captured international attention when he won the Nadia et Lili Boulanger Competition in Paris.

His recent highlights include performances at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw; Sydney Opera House; Salzburg, Aix-en-Provence and Lucerne festivals; and at the BBC Proms. In concert, he is known for exceptional performances of works by Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Mahler, and in particular, Bach including recent performances of Mendelssohn’s Elijah at the Gewandhaus Leipzig and in televised broadcasts of Bach’s complete major sacred works.

Opera highlights of his 2019/20 season include singing the role of Rocco in Beethoven’s Leonore with René Jacobs and the Freiburger Barockorchester; Eremit in Weber’s Freischütz at both Opéra de Rouen and Théâtre des Champs-Elysées under conductor Laurence Equilbey; and Polypheme in Handel’s Acis and Galatea at Opéra de Massy. Additional season highlights include a European tour with organist Masaaki Suzuki; French tour of Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor, K. 427 with Ensemble Pygmalian under its Music Director Raphaël Pichon; concerts in Berlin with René Jacobs and Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin; and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and Missa soleminis with Tokyo’s NHK Symphony Orchestra.
