IMG Artists is delighted to welcome conductor Mihhail Gerts to its roster for General Management. Maestro Gerts will be represented by Artist Manager Maarit Kangron from the company’s London Office.
The “captivating” Estonian conductor Mihhail Gerts is acclaimed for his “astonishing precision, expressive gestures and warmth” (RPonline). He has recently made his debuts with orchestras including the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra and Staatskapelle Weimar. Highlights of his 2017/18 season include conducting the Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava; The Flying Dutchman with Estonian National Opera; debuts with Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, Bremer Philharmoniker, Beethoven Orchester Bonn, Orchestre Regional de Cannes, Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie Herford, Philharmonie Südwestfalen and the Göttinger Symphonieorchester. He also continues with his frequent collaborations with orchestras including Orchestre National de Lille, the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and the National Philharmonic of Russia.
Gerts studied conducting at the Estonian Academy of Music and the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler, Berlin. In 2011 he received his PhD. From 2013 to 2017 he was a Stipendiate of the the Dirigentenforum Programme of the German Music Council. From 2015 – 2017 he served as First Kapellmeister and deputy General Music Director of the Hagen Theater and was the Resident Conductor of the Estonian National Opera from 2007 – 2014.
