Jessica Nuccio leads Opera Australia’s La Traviata as Violetta Valéry. The production, which was rescheduled from 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be performed at Mrs Macquaries Point as part of Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour from 25 March – 25 April.
Opera Australia writes, “Raise your glass, flutter those lashes. He’s staring at you, he’s singing for you… Are you tempted? Violetta is the life of every party. A courtesan with a heart of gold, she’s free and free-spirited. Could a little love change everything? Verdi’s score offers flying melodies, rousing drinking songs and heartbreaking duets. Brian Castles-Onion conducts the opera, with a live orchestra hidden under the stage.”
Jessica Nuccio was born in Palermo in 1985. Winner of numerous international awards and opera competitions including the first prize of the First International Singing Competition “Simone Alaimo e le sue opere” in 2010, the first prize at the International Singing Competition “Voci del Mediterraneo” in Siracusa and in 2011 the first Prize and the Prize of critics in the first edition of the International Singing Competition “Marcello Giordani.”
