Lio Kuokman Conducts The Philadelphia Orchestra in their Lunar New Year Concert

Lio Kuokman returns to The Philadelphia Orchestra to conduct their Lunar New Year Concert this Friday (06 Jan) at the Kimmel Center. Former Assistant Conductor to the orchestra, Kuokman will direct a programme featuring ancient Chinese poems in 21st-century orchestrations. The orchestra will be joined by singers from the iSING! Suzhou International Young Arts Festival to perform the North American premiere of Echoes of Ancient Tang Poems. This special concert commemorates the 50th anniversary of the orchestra’s historic 1973 tour of China. More information and tickets are available here.

Kuokman brought in the New Year conducting the Orchestre national du Capitole de Toulouse, in a programme featuring the works of Bernstein and Gershwin. Among recent and shortly forthcoming highlights are his debuts with the Orchestre national d’Île-de-France, RTVE Symphony Orchestra, RTV Slovenia, Gävle Symphony, and the Oulu Symphony.
