IMG Artists is thrilled to announce that Massimo Zanetti has been named Music Director of the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra, officially commencing at the start of the 2018/19 season.

Massimo Zanetti said of the appointment, “I am honoured and proud to be appointed as the new Music Director of the Gyeonggi Philharmonic. I am looking forward to a wonderful collaboration with the orchestra, and a fruitful cooperation with their outstanding CEO Mr Jae-hoon Chung, as well as all the members of the orchestra’s management.“

The Gyeonggi Philharmonic’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Jae-hoon Chung, adds: Gyeonggi Philharmonic needs a conductor of world-class calibre and sensibility, therefore I am thrilled and delighted that Maestro Massimo Zanetti will be taking up the position of Music Director. I am certain that this new cooperation will propel the Gyeonggi Philharmonic to new heights, gaining worldwide recognition as one of the major Korean orchestras. It is a great chance and we feel very lucky to start working with him in September 2018.”

Natalja Slobodyreva, Maestro Zanetti’s General Manager, said: “Massimo Zanetti is a charismatic artist who is artistically uncompromising, both in concert, but also with his well-known detailed and rigorous approach to rehearsals. His international perspective and activities will bring inestimable added value to the Gyeonggi Philharmonic. Massimo Zanetti’s commitment will include at least 10 concerts per year with the Gyeonngi Philharmonic Orchestra. Zanetti maintains a high-profile international career in the world’s leading opera houses and concert halls, having worked with Staatskapelle Berlin, NDR Symphony Orchestra Hamburg, the Bamberger Symphoniker, the Konzerhaus Berlin, Czech Philharmonic, the NKH Symphony Tokyo and many more.
