The latest recording by violin virtuoso Nemanja Radulović, Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto and Rococo Variations, has been released on Deutsche Grammophon. The album features Tchaikovsky’s seminal Violin Concerto with the Borusan Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Sascha Goetzel, in addition to a new arrangement of the Rococo Variations for viola.
Radulović, winner of “Best Violin Newcomer of the Year” at the 2015 Echo Klassik Awards who is known for his “rock star looks” (Bachtrack) as much as his high-energy performances, has been heralded for his “masterly” (ResMusica) performance in this new recording, with the critic writing:
“The young brilliant virtuoso displays a certain freedom without breaking the codes, as some might fear, with his physique and rocker looks. Nemanja manages to blend Tchaikovsky’s Western (Schumann, Beethoven) and Russian (Glinka, folklore and the Russian soul) influences, coupled with his difficulty in managing profound personal conflicts, to showcase one of the most masterly performances of this piece. His approach is simultaneously virtuosic, inspired and carries the depth of romanticism without falling into cliché”.
