Simone Dinnerstein was featured in the most recent episode of NPR’s “All Things Considered” podcast, showcasing her upcoming multimedia world premiere at Montclair State University. Entitled The Eye is the First Circle, the project is inspired by a painting made in 1974 by her father, Simon Dinnerstein, known as The Fulbright Triptych; the live performance will feature Charles Ives’ “Concord Sonata,” as well as projections and animations based on the painting by visual artist Laurie Olinder.
Dinnerstein explains: “It’s so much more creative than the average piano recital. I felt like I just wanted to break out of this constraining shell of the recital and be able t o do something more vibrant and more dimensional.”
Performances of The Eye is the First Circle will be held on four consecutive days in the Alexander Kasser Theater at Montclair State University, October 14 – 17.
