Pietari Inkinen made a successfuldebut with NDR at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg (17 and 20 May) and Kiel’s Kieler Schloss (18 May). He led the orchestra in a programme featuring Sibelius’ Symphony No. 1 in E minor, Op. 39, Robert Schumann’s Fantasie in C Major for Violin and Orchestra, Op.131 (with Frank Peter Zimmermann as soloist) and Hindemith’s Kammermusik No.4, Op.36. Peter Krause writes in Die Welt: “With clear gestures and a natural feel for rubato which allows the music to really flow, Inkinen conducts his Sibelius.  The highly motivated NDR Elbphilharmonic followed him with an earthy grounded sound in the lower strings and potent brass.”

Inkinen’s forthcoming highlights inclue a Korean tour with Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, including a performance at the Seoul Arts Centre, and performances with the Japan Philharmonic in Tokyo and Yokahama.
