The five-time Grammy® award winners, The Swingles, are to make their debut at The EFG London Jazz Festival on Saturday 23 November. Regarded as masters of their craft, the London-based a cappella group will perform in a three part concert that showcases the distinctive and different styles of jazz singing in a performance titled Voices of Jazz. The concert is taking place at St John’s Smith Square Westminster, London.
The EFG London Jazz Festival is a music festival that occurs every November. It takes place in London venues such as the Barbican and the Royal Festival Hall, as well as in more intimate venues, such as Ronnie Scott’s and the Vortex Jazz Club.
To promote the concert, The Swingles are to perform on BBC Radio 3 as well as give an interview. They will be on air at 5pm on the Katie Derham Show and the programme will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3, simultaneously streamed on the BBC iPlayer and BBC Radio 3 website, and will available for catch-up listening on BBC iPlayer for 30 days following the broadcast.
Over the years, The Swingles have received critical acclaim for their unique style and performances.
John Lewis of The Guardian writes “Stunning reinventions of songs by the likes of John Martyn, Elbow and Mumford & Sons, with subtle beatboxing and audacious harmonies… superhero singing to truly raise goosebumps.”
Jonathan Russell from Bachtrack says “The orchestra and the Swingle singers…gave a stellar performance, full of colour, vitality, and drama.”
