Dutch National Opera’s new production of Jenufa opens on October 6. In a production by Katie Mitchell, Tomas Netopil conducts Annette Dasch (singing Jenufa for the first time), Hanna Schwarz as Grandmother Stařenka and Evelyn Herlitzius as Jenůfa’s stepmother, Kostelnička with Netherlands Philharmonic in the pit.
A busy opera season for Tomas Netopil, he conducts productions of Freischutz and Rusalka plus revivals of Salome and Cosi fan tutte for Muziektheater Essen (of whom he is GMD), Bartered Bride for Dresden Semperoper and Idomeneo for Vienna Staatsoper. Having conducted Makropoulos Case with huge success for Vlaamse Opera in Autumn 2016, he and the company will reprise the opera for Janacek Brno International Opera and Music Festival in October 2018.
