Tomáš Netopil conducts the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, of which he is Principal Guest Conductor, at the Kissinger Sommer festival on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 July 2019, the first of which will be broadcast live on Bavarian Radio.
With pianist Leif Ove Andsnes, he performs an all-Mozart programme on 5 July, featuring Piano Concerto in D K466, ballet excerpts from Idomeneo, and Symphony No. 38 “Prague”.
With cellist Truls Mørk, he performs an all-Dvořák programme on 6July, opening with the Cello Concerto in B minor, complemented by three overtures – In Nature’s Realm, Othello, and Carnival.
Co-incidentally, operas by these two composers (Così fan Tutte and Rusalka) marked the final two productions of his season in Essen where he continues as the General Music Director of Aalto Musik Theater and Philharmonie Essen.
Next season, Tomáš Netopil’s highlights include a debut with Orchestre National de France, Montpellier Opera Orchestra, RAI Torino, Accademia di Santa Cecilia, and a return to Japan with the Yomiuri Symphony Orchestra. He will also return to Vienna Staatsoper for Beethoven’s Leonore.
