Bass-baritone Milan Siljanov jumps in Thursday, 14 March, as Leporello in Don Giovanni at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. The production, conducted by James Gaffigan, stars Sir Simon Keenlyside in the title role.

Milan is in his first season in the ensemble of Bayerische Staatsoper, where he performed Schaunard in La bohème in June 2019. Additional roles with the company include Antonio in Le nozze di Figaro, Nachtwächter in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Čekunov in From the House of the Dead, Montano in Otello, Peter Besenbinder in Hänsel und Gretel, Sprecher in Die Zauberflöte and Ein Cappadocier in Salome. His additional highlights of the 2018/19 season include a recital with Nino Chokhonelidze at Wigmore Hall and Haydn’s Nelson Mass at Staatskapelle Dresden with conductor Omer Meir Wellber.

A Samling Artist, he studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (Opera Course) under the tutelage of Prof Rudolf Piernay. He is the 2015 winner of the prestigious Wigmore Hall/Kohn Foundation International Song Competition and the audience and second rize winner of the 2018 ARD international music competition.
