Conductor Xian Zhang makes her debut with Philharmonia Orchestra this week, with concerts at the Bedford Corn Exchange (28 March), De Montfort Hall in Leicester (29 March), and The Anvil in Basingstoke (30 March) culminating in a final performance at the Royal Festival Hall at Southbank Centre in London (31 March).

In Bedford, Xian Zhang will conduct Beethoven Coriolan Overture, Brahms Violin Concerto (featuring Alina Pogostkina), and Beethoven Symphony No. 7. In Leicester, Basingstoke, and London, Xian Zhang pairs the Brahms concerto with Shostakovich Symphony No. 5.

Next season, Xian Zhang will return to perform Mahler Das Lied von der Erde with Dame Sarah Conolly at the Royal Festival Hall on 30 April 2020.

In addition to regular engagements with New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, of whom she is Music Director, Xian Zhang’s other upcoming highlights this season include Beethoven Symphony No. 9 at Hollywood Bowl for Los Angeles Philharmonic, her debut with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and a return to the La Verdi orchestra of whom she is Conductor Emeritus following her tenure there as Music Director.
