Music Director and Principal Conductor at the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St. Petersburg

Biography

In 2009 Maestro Peter Feranec was appointed as a new principal conductor and music director at the Mikhailovsky Theatre in St.Petersburg.

In 1995 Peter Feranec was also appointed the principal conductor at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow – which made him the first foreign-born principal conductor (and also the youngest one ). At the this theatre he led various new productions: Lucia di Lammermoor, La Boheme, La Traviata ( Season 1995/96 ), Pique Dame, Aida (1996/97), Love for three Oranges (1997/98) with Sir Peter Ustinov as stage-director and other 18 operatic tittles from Bolshoi repertoire.

Peter Feranec was also a chief conductor at the Slovak National Theatre and Slovakian Philharmonic Orchestra in Bratislavas Slovenian National Opera in Ljubljana.

Guest appearances include among others Zurich Opera House, London Philharmonia, Frankfurt Opera House, Seoul Radio Orchestra, Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, Baden-Baden Opernhaus, Royal Opera Stockholm
