About Us

The Performing Arts are essential part of the human experience. We at IMG Artists are proud to play our part within the cultural ecosystem, and are dedicated to connecting artists, creators and organisations with new, emerging and loyal audiences.

Artist, Tour and Project Management relies on passionate, empathetic, insightful multi-skilled individuals who are dedicated to their work. For forty years, IMG Artists’ team across three continents has provided the expertise, direction and support needed to develop artistically, commercially and strategically successful careers for an illustrious roster of artists and projects. We encourage collaboration and innovation within the cultural industries and forge distinctive relationships and partnerships in order to craft and advance endeavours that benefit our artists and projects, but also audiences, partners and intra-industry colleagues around the world.

In addition to supporting artistic talent, we are committed to the care and development of each member of the IMGA Team. The majority of our managers and senior team have been with the company since internships or first jobs, or returned to the company after exploring other roles. We want to make sure that IMGA is a place where people are respected and encouraged, so that today’s Assistant Managers and Interns are tomorrow’s leaders.

IMG ARTISTS

OUR STORY

In 1983, International Management Group (IMG) president Mark McCormack played a game of golf with his friend, world-renowned soprano Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. McCormack would later recall Dame Kiri encouraging his move into music: “I’m going to teach you culture,” she told him. “The first thing you have to know is it’s intermission, not half-time.”

Revolutionary in his management of sports legends such as Arnold Palmer and Pele, McCormack realized the potential for applying IMG’s versatile expertise to celebrities in the performing arts world; like athletes, artists were in need of good business guidance, and like sports, music was a multinational pastime marketable around the globe.

At the same time a boutique New York City-based management company called Hamlen/Landau was looking for investors. Founded in 1979 by Charles Hamlen and Edna Landau, the boutique agency was characterized by its willingness to engage in a dialogue with artists about their careers rather than simply dictating what was “best” for them. Seeking advice, Hamlen and Landau met with James Wolfensohn, then Chairman of the Board at Carnegie Hall and future President of the World Bank. An old friend of McCormack’s, Wolfensohn knew IMG planned to expand its business into the performing arts world. Wasting no time, he called McCormack during the meeting, and, on January 11, 1984, Hamlen/Landau became IMG Artists.

In 1991, IMG Artists’ European headquarters opened in London, followed by offices in Paris and Hannover. Additionally, the company has representative presences throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

IMG Artists is proud that the foundations of professionalism and personal care established in its first years of the company are still essential tenets of its unique vision and management style today. Creative, committed and distinguished, IMG Artists continues to be an industry leader, dedicated to the finest management for each of its artists and clients around the world.
