Case Scaglione Makes His Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra Debut

17 Apr 2024

Case Scaglione makes his debut with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, in two concerts at SR Berwaldhallen, Stockholm on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 April 2024. Scaglione leads the Orchestra, as well as the Swedish Radio Choir and soloists Julia Kleiter, Katija Dragojevic, Maximilian Schmitt and John Lundgren, in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. The programme also features Arnold Schönberg’s interpretation of the Jewish prayer Kol nidre. The Friday concert will be broadcasted live on Swedish Radio P2. More information and tickets are available here.

Case said: “It is an honour to play with this illustrious ensemble for the first time. However, more than their artistic excellence or rich sound culture it is their humility before the music and their relentless pursuit of excellence that has been the stuff of dreams for me during this rehearsal process.”

Scaglione’s 2023/24 season highlights include debuts with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra (Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 and Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 4) leading to an instant re-invitation; triumphant Prague Symphony debut, with a programme featuring among other pieces Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 in E minor Op. 95 “From the New World” which earned Case standing ovations in the Czech capital. Case also returned to Poland for his second collaboration with the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and a return collaboration with the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra is due at the end of the current season. During 2024/25 season, Case makes debuts with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, Komische Oper Berlin and Gävle Symphony.

Case Scaglione is currently in his sixth season and final season as a Chief Conductor of the Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn in Germany and in his fifth season as a Music Director of Orchestre national d’Île de France. He has previously served as Associate Conductor with the New York Philharmonic and as Music Director of the Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra of Los Angeles. Case was the driving force behind the artistic growth and diversification of the organisation, founding their educational outreach initiative ‘360° Music’.
