Christoph Altstaedt Conducts in New Zealand and Australia

Over the coming fortnight, Christoph Altstaedt travels to New Zealand and Australia for performances in Auckland, Sydney and Adelaide.

Christoph returns to Auckland Philharmonia for a subscription concert on Thursday 11 April 2024, featuring Brahms Variation on a Theme by Haydn, Haydn Violin Concerto with Amalia Hall, Mahler What the Wild Flowers Tell Me, followed by Schubert 6 “Little C Major” to conclude the programme.

The following week, Christoph makes his Australian debut conducting Australian Youth Orchestra in a wonderfully creative programme he curated on the theme of “The Grotesque”, featuring Ligeti Mysteries of the Macabre, HK Gruber Frankenstein!!, and the world premiere of Australia composer Nicholas Vines A Mega Masquerade inspired by Carnival of the Animals. They perform in Sydney on 19 April and at UKARIA near Adelaide on 21 April.

Following a successful debut at Vienna Staatsoper last season (Haydn The Seasons), Christoph returns for another production next season before making his debut at Bregenz Festival with Vienna Symphony Orchestra. Other upcoming highlights include a tour across Belgium with Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and winners of their concerto competition, a special concert with DSO Berlin, Brahms Requiem with Krakow Philharmonic, and a return to Vienna Volksoper where he appears regularly as a popular guest.

Recent highlights elsewhere include City of Birmingham Symphony, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and several collaborations with the Gurzenich Orchestra including projects at the Cologne Philharmonie and his Cologne Opera debut (performances of Wagner The Flying Dutchman).
