Congratulations to Zakir Hussain, Edgar Meyer and Eric Owens: Winners at the 2024 Grammy® Awards!

Congratulations to Zakir Hussain, Edgar Meyer and Eric Owens on their victories at the 2024 GRAMMY® Awards! The winners were announced on February 4 at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena. Mr Hussain won three awards during “Music’s Biggest Night” making him a 4-time GRAMMY®-winner. Mr Meyer won two awards, bringing his career total to 7 GRAMMY® Awards. Mr Owens wins his second GRAMMY® in two years, having been honoured in the Best Opera Recording category in 2022 for Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess.

Hussain and Meyer share two 2024 GRAMMY® wins: Best Contemporary Instrumental Album for As We Speak (Thirty Tigers) with Béla Fleck and featuring Rakesh Chaurasia; and the Global Music Performance GRAMMY® for “Pashto” from the album.

 

Hussain’s third GRAMMY® of the night was for This Moment (Abstract Logix), shared with his fellow Shakti ensemble members John McLaughlin, Shankar Mahadevan, V. Selvaganesh and Ganesh Rajagopalan.

 

Eric Owens wins the Best Opera Recording GRAMMY® for Blanchard: Champion (MetOpera) for his performance as Emile Griffith in the acclaimed Metropolitan Opera James Robinson production.
