Don’t miss Yeol Eum Son’s Summer Recital Tour Across Australia, Singapore and Europe

1 Jun 2024

Following her distinguished concerti debuts and return collaborations, back in 2022 and earlier this year, with the Sydney, Melbourne, WASO, Tasmanian Symphony and Auckland Philharmonia Pianist Yeol Eum Son returns to Australia for two recitals in Adelaide and Melbourne this week.. After a staggering recital debut in 2022, Yeol Eum returns to Adelaide to perform in the Harris International Piano Series at Elder Hall on 02 June. Following an explosive Melbourne Recital Centre debut in 2022, Yeol Eum’s profound musicality earned her acclaim, with critics lauding her “breathtaking dexterity and finger control” (Pianist Magazine) and “light, fine-pointed energy and agile precision” (Sydney Morning Herald). She returns to the centre on the 04 June for a performance in the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall.

During the summer, Yeol Eum’s recital schedule takes her to piano festivals across Asia and Europe. Following a debut with the Singapore Symphony in summer 2022, Yeol Eum makes recital debut at the Singapore International Piano Festival on the 07 June. She then travels to Lisbon where she performs at the VII Oeiras International Piano Festival on the 07 July.  Yeol Eum makes her recital debut at the Mänttä Music Festival in Finland on 31 July and concludes her recital tour by returning to the International Chopin Piano Festival in Poland on the 04 August.

Poetic elegance, an innate feeling for expressive nuance and the power to project bold, dramatic contrasts are among the arresting attributes of Yeol Eum Son’s pianism. Her refined artistry rises from breathtaking technical control and a profound empathy for the emotional temper of the works within her strikingly wide repertoire. She is driven above all by her natural curiosity to explore a multitude of musical genres and styles and the desire to reveal what she describes as the “pure essence” of everything she performs. Yeol Eum refuses to impose limits on her artistic freedom and remains determined to explore new artistic territory. Her choice of repertoire, which spans everything from the works of Bach and Mozart to those of Shchedrin and Kapustin, is guided chiefly by the quality and depth of the music.
