Emerson String Quartet Return to London In European Tour – March 2022

Following a two year break from European touring, Emerson String Quartet continue their tour this Wednesday (16 March) in London, England. The tour commenced at the Megaron in Athens (8 March), followed by Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid (10 March), Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa (12 March), Amici della Musica Firenze Onlus, Florence (13 March) and Società del Quartetto di Milano, Milan (15 March). In London there will be three consecutive concerts at the Southbank Centre. Each concert forms part of a 5 concert project (to be concluded in November this year) dedicated to the complete cycle of string quartets by Shostakovich.

On Wednesday 16, the programme features String Quartet No.1 in C, Op.49; String Quartet No.2 in A, Op.68 and String Quartet No.3 in F, Op.73. More information and tickets can be found here. On Thursday 17, the programme features String Quartet No.4 in D, Op.83; String Quartet No.6 in G, Op.101 and String Quartet No.5 in B flat, Op.92. More information and tickets can be found here. On Friday 18, the programme features String Quartet No.7 in F sharp minor, Op.108; String Quartet No.8 in C minor, Op.110 and String Quartet No.9 in E flat, Op.117. Emerson String Quartet’s upcoming engagements include performances at the Sanibel Music Festival at the end of March, the University of Nevada, and the Meany Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Washington. A full list of engagements can be viewed here.
