Jonathon Heyward Embarks on US Summer Tour

This weekend, Jonathon Heyward returns to Mostly Mozart Festival at the Lincoln Center for two concerts on the 5 and 6 August, ahead of his 3-year tenure as Music Director beginning next season. The programme features Jessie Montgomery’s Records of a Vanishing City, Schumann’s “Rhenish” Symphony No. 3, and violinist Simone Lamsma joins for Barber’s Violin Concerto.

Jonathon then makes his way to Illinois to make his Ravinia Festival and Chicago Symphony Orchestra debuts on the 9 August, leading the orchestra in a programme of Tania León’s Pasajes, Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 feauturing violinist Benjamin Beilman, and Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances.

On the 12 August, Jonathon returns to Baltimore for a donor appreciation concert with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, ahead of his 5-year tenure as Music Director from next season. The programme features Boulanger’s D’un matin de printemps, Coleridge-Taylor’s Petite suite de concert, and Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Overture-Fantasy.

Jonathon concludes his US summer tour with with the LA Philharmonic (where he was previously a Dudamel Conducting Fellow) at Hollywood Bowl on the 15 August, conducting a French programme of Boulanger’s D’un matin de printemps, Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique, and Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G featuring pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet.
