This week, Jonathon Heyward makes his New York Philharmonic debut conducting a trio of concerts at the David Geffen Hall from the 27-29 April. Heyward leads the Orchestra in Lutosławski’s Concerto for Orchestra, a virtuosic showcase for the whole ensemble. The programme also features Brahms’s Violin Concerto (starring violinist Christian Tetzlaff), and Canadian composer Zosha Di Castri’s Lineage. Tickets for the performances are available here.
Heyward is currently in his second year as a Chief Conductor of the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie and serves as Music Director Designate of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, where he will begin his five-year contract in the 2023-24 season.
Jonathon enjoys a growing presence in the United States, where in the recent seasons he has collaborated with the Atlanta, Detroit, Houston, Seattle, St Louis Symphony orchestras and Grant Park and Mostly Mozart music Festivals.
Most recently Jonathon has also been honoured by his alma mater, The Royal Academy of Music (London). He has been elected a 2023 Fellow, an honour reserved for Academy alumni. Jonathon’s recent and forthcoming symphonic guest conducting highlights in the United Kingdom include debuts and re-invitations with the London Symphony, London Philharmonic, The Hallé in Manchester, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, BBC Symphony, Royal Scottish National Orchestra and Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
