Julia Fischer Awarded the 2024 Rheingau Music Prize

Violinist Julia Fischer has been awarded the 2024 Rheingau Music Prize. Since 1994, prizes have been awarded to renowned artists, composers and musicologists or musical institutions in recognition of their extraordinary contribution to music. The award is endowed with 10,000 € funded by the Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Art and Culture. Julia will receive the Award during a ceremony before her concert with cellist Daniel Müller-Schott and pianist Yulianna Avdeeva on 4 July 2024 at 18:00 at Schloss Johannisberg.

The Festival writes:

“Julia Fischer has been one of the most renowned violinists of our time for more than two decades and has earned a firm place among the world’s violinist elite with her technical perfection, stylistic proficiency and elegant virtuosity. Her artistic work as a soloist, chamber musician and artistic director is characterized by an impressive versatility. In addition, she is an authentic and approachable artist and pedagogue who stands up for her convictions and thus makes an important contribution through her passionate and tireless commitment to musical education. Especially in the current time, such committed artists are valuable ambassadors of classical music, which we urgently need as a society.
