Karen Gomyo Makes her Dublin Debut with the National Symphony Orchestra, Conducted by Lio Kuokman

On Friday 10 May 2024, Karen Gomyo makes her Dublin Debut at the National Concert Hall, with Lio Kuokman and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. Gomyo will play Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 1, with Kuokman and the Orchestra performing Shostakovich’s Festive Overture and Stravinsky’s Petrushka. More information and tickets are available here.

Gomyo’s 2023/24 season engagements include her debuts with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra with John Storgårds and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig with Semyon Bychkov. She also appears with the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg with Constantinos Carydis, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra with John Storgårds, Gulbenkian Orchestra with Giancarlo Guerrero, Orquesta Sinfónica de Bilbao with composer/conductor Samy Moussa, and the Vancouver Symphony with Gerard Schwarz. In February 2024, Karen returned to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for the world premiere of Year 2020, a Concerto for Trumpet, Violin and Orchestra by Xi Wang, with trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth and conductor Fabio Luisi.  Together with conductor Jakub Hrůša, with whom she collaborates regularly, Karen will return to Japan to perform with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra. Further afield, Karen continues to be sought after in Australasia, and will be touring the region in August and September 2024, returning to the Singapore, Melbourne, Sydney, Tasmanian and West Australian symphony orchestras.

The current 23/24 season marks Kuokman’s debut with Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of Croatian RTV and Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. Kuokman also toured Bangkok and China with the Hong-Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, conducting Rimski-Korsakov Sheherazade, Mendelssohn Midsummer Night’s Dream, a popular programme in an open-air symphonic concert Under the Stars and a fundraising concert as a resident guest conductor. Kuokman collaborates with Hong-Kong Ballet in a production of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and the production The Last Song choreographed by Hu Song Wei with music by Johann Sebastian Bach.
