Lio Kuokman Conducts Il barbiere di Siviglia in Taiwan 22 – 26 December

Lio Kuokman completes 2021 conducting Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia at Taiwan’s National Taichung Theater. A co-production with The Royal Danish Theatre, the Martin Lyngbo production with the National Symphony Orchestra stars Ilhun Jung (Figaro), Weng Jo-pei (Rosina), Lee Shih-Chao (Count Almaviva), Martn Ng (Don Bartolo), Julian Lo (Basilio), Lai Chueh-yu (Berta) and Tsai Zheng-cheng (Notario & Officer).

Lio Kuokman is Programme Director of Macau International Music Festival and Resident Conductor at the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. His forthcoming season highlights include a production of the Taiwanese Premiere of Mahler’s 10th Symphony with the National Symphony Orchestra Taiwan and his Spanish debut with the Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra at Madrid’s Teatro Monumental.

Born in Macao and educated as a pianist and a conductor at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, the Juilliard School, the Curtis Institute of Music and the New England Conservatory, Lio Kuokman is praised by the Philadelphia Inquirer as “a startling conducting talent”. He is Resident Conductor with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and Programme Director of the Macao International Music Festival.
