Martijn Dendievel Jumps in Last Minute to Conduct Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen 17 March

Rising star conductor Martijn Dendeivel jumps in last minute to make his much-anticipated return to Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen. He will conduct the world premiere of its commission: Ülo Krigul’s Proteus Pulses. Dendeivel, who was recently named the Orchestra’s Associate Conductor following his debut in January, will also lead the orchestra in Walton’s rarely performed Viola Concerto, with soloist Nils Mönkemeyer, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 “Pastorale”. Martijn recently made his debut with the Phion Orchestra, conducting music by Saariaho and Dvořák, and returned to the Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna with soloist Steven Isserlis. His forthcoming highlights include conducting Rimsky-Korsakov’s Mozart and Salieri at Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde with Hermes Ensemble in Antwerp (a co-production by Wiener Festwochen and De Singel Antwerp), his returns to the Hofer Symphoniker and Nürnberger Symphoniker, and taking part in the finals of the ICCR Rotterdam Competition.
