Riccardo Frizza Named Chief Conductor of the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Choir from 2022/23

23 Mar 2022

IMG Artists is delighted to announce that Riccardo Frizza is named Chief Conductor of the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Choir from the 2022/23 season. He will begin his tenure at the start of the 2022/23 season. This new partnership reflects the special relationship Frizza shares with the orchestra, with whom he has appeared since 2010. The announcement will be celebrated in concert on 24 March at Budapest’s MUPA with Frizza conducting Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 “Resurrection”.

Frizza said: “To be the new Chief Conductor of the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Choir is a great honour for me. I highly admire the musicians and this country’s incredible cultural heritage. To be in Budapest always brings me great joy. Even from the first time I worked with the orchestra in 2010, we have had a deep relationship and understanding on a musical level. I am very happy to have this opportunity to work together regularly and to develop and further strengthen our artistic path. I am confident that together we will be amongst the best and most prestigious European orchestras.”

Riccardo Frizza is one of today’s leading Italian conductors. His appearances in both operatic and symphonic repertoire are acclaimed for his charismatic conducting and inspirational interpretations. Music Director of the Bergamo Donizetti Opera Festival since 2017, he is regularly engaged by renowned orchestras, opera houses and festivals around the world.
