The 2024 BBC Proms are Announced

The BBC Proms have announced eight stunning weeks of music making for their 2024 season, with 90 proms across the UK demonstrating the extraordinary breadth of classical and orchestral music.

2024 BBC Proms IMG Artists highlights include pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason opening the Festival on 19 July; The King’s Singers* joined on stage for the first time by VOCES8 on 21 July; mezzo-soprano Alice Coote* on 25 July; conductor Dinis Sousa leading the Royal Northern Sinfonia from Gateshead’s Glasshouse International Centre for Music on 26 July; and pianist Yunchan Lim’s hotly anticipated BBC Proms debut on 29 July.

August sees four IMG Artists conductors lead their orchestras at Royal Albert Hall with Music Director Vasily Petrenko and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on 1 August; Chief Conductor Sir Antonio Pappano leads the London Symphony Orchestra on 17 August; Principal Guest Conductor Jakub Hrůša and the Czech Philharmonic on 27 August, and joined by soprano Corinne Winters* on 28 August; and Stéphane Denève with the BBC Symphony Orchestra on 04 September, joined by baritone Thomas Mole. Cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason will give two family friendly and relaxed concerts on 4 and 5 August. Bass-baritone Christian Immler stars as Jesus in Bach’s St John Passion on 19 August. Tenor Brenden Gunnell joins the Aurora Orchestra for Beethoven’s Choral Symphony on 21 August; baritone Thomas Mole takes the role of Moralès in the semi-staged performance of Bizet’s Carmen on 29 August; and Jaime Martín conducts the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and violinist Nemanja Radulović on 12 September.
