TRIOCOLORES

SPECIAL ENSEMBLE

ABOUT

TrioColores, a renowned percussion ensemble, is recognized as one of the foremost interpreters of a diverse percussive repertoire ranging from classical works to celebrated contemporary compositions. Matthias Kessler, Luca Staffelbach, and Fabian Ziegler, have established themselves as a versatile and innovative trio, bringing their joy for percussion to each performance and captivating audiences with their virtuosic playing and innovative programming. The trio has been praised by the jury of Migros Kulturprozent Competition for their “range of colors, holistic approach, and the performative power that always took center stage,” and were heralded by the Luzerner Zeitung, who wrote, “they play so passionately and at a level rarely heard before.”

For nearly a decade, TrioColores has appeared in many venues and festivals throughout Europe including the Davos Festival in Switzerland and Lausitz Festival in Germany, performing uniquely designed concerts that highlight the versatility of percussion instruments. Their repertoire not only includes traditional percussion literature but also challenging arrangements of classical music, a specialty that has earned them acclaim. The trio’s debut at the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonic in 2021, featuring their arrangement of Ravel’s complete “Le Tombeau de Couperin,” exemplifies their skillful integration of percussion into classical concert programming.

In the 2024-2025 season, the trio will premiere a new triple percussion concerto by Avner Dorman, commissioned by TrioColores, with the Staatstheater Braunschweig in Germany in January 2025, along with recital appearances in Austria, Switzerland, South Korea, and Lithuania. Other highlights of the 24/25 season include their debut CD, “En Couleur,” set to be released in October 2024 on the Solo Musica (Munich) label, featuring works by Saint-Saëns, Debussy, Milhaud, Tailleferre, and Ravel.
